Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I am running Windows Server 2003 with SharePoint v3 SP1.

I followed the instructions.  Modified the account permissions, changed the app pool, reset iis, re registered asp, rebooted, please help.  This tool looks real good but I can't get it to create users.

When exactly do you get the error?

I'm getting this error as well as "The object already exists. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80071392)" and "The Web application at could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application." when trying to create a user.

The admin page to set connection string works dandy.

The errors seem to trade back and forth.

I'm running Server 2008, WSS 3.0.

My Application Pool user is a service account and a member of Domain Users, X_WPG, X_ADMIN_WPG, Account Operators and IIS_IUSRS.

I looked for the IIS REGWAM admin service DCOM object that another user on here suggested, but Server 2008 has no AD group/user references to anything prefixed by IIS_ other than the IIS_IUSRS group.
