Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

I am running Windows Server 2003 with SharePoint v3 SP1.

I followed the instructions.  Modified the account permissions, changed the app pool, reset iis, re registered asp, rebooted, please help.  This tool looks real good but I can't get it to create users.

When exactly do you get the error?

I'm getting this error as well as "The object already exists. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80071392)" and "The Web application at http://198.165.33.251 could not be found. Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application." when trying to create a user.

The admin page to set connection string works dandy.

The errors seem to trade back and forth.

I'm running Server 2008, WSS 3.0.

My Application Pool user is a service account and a member of Domain Users, X_WPG, X_ADMIN_WPG, Account Operators and IIS_IUSRS.

I looked for the IIS REGWAM admin service DCOM object that another user on here suggested, but Server 2008 has no AD group/user references to anything prefixed by IIS_ other than the IIS_IUSRS group.
